Haircare Products For An Easy Glam

Have you ever stepped out without a hair out of place? Then you know the sheer joy of looking breathtakingly awesome, like something out of a magazine. It is such a beautiful feeling that when you get home, you don’t want to undress, clean off the makeup or remove the hairpins, because you’re just looking ‘gojos’ (read: gorgeous). Haha! Yes, it happens and we all love it but then, let’s talk about how to make it happen. Yes, even if you’re riding the subway, hailing a cab, bike or other public transportation, you can achieve that kind of look.

So, let’s cover the hair aspect. We’ll be sharing 5 products that give you that awe-mazing look every time you step out with your hair, be it braided wigs, extensions or any other kind!

  1. Hair sheen/Oil mists/Glossing polisher: Shine is one of the most attractive features of hair. Oil mists, glossing polish and hair sheen can give your hair, braided wigs and weaves that highly-craved glossy look and feel. Take note, however, to ensure that you use sparingly to avoid buildup, and to clean your hair with shampoo to clarify your hair of all accumulated dirt and grease.
  2. Curl enhancing products: If you want to give your hair a specific wave, twist or curl pattern, this will help you achieve that desired result. They come in all forms – sprays, creams and non–sticky liquids. They help to separate the layers and strands, give your hair a distinct texture and prevent frizz.
  3. Heat protectants: If you love that sleek look that comes with flat ironing, then don’t compromise on heat protectants. These are like middlemen that go between hair and heating tools to prevent damage and minimize the effect of direct heat on your hair. Not many people know that there’s something called heat damage, and it can affect weaves too. This means that your hair can’t suffer burns. Honestly, you don’t want to see your cherished weave get seared with heat beyond redemption. Heat protectants add moisture to your hair and prevent excessive water loss from heat-based styling.
  4. Moisturizer: Unlike the natural hair that grows on your head, which is replenished with its own secreted oils, braids, wigs and extensions need a helping hand. Moisturizing conditioners help your own hair with even distribution to areas where your natural oils cannot reach. But with artificial hair, moisturizers are the only source of moisture. They help your hair stay soft and tangle-free, reducing the frequency of washes that your hair will need.
  5. Non-adhesive products: Yes, we know it’s tempting to slay those edges, but when you’re wearing extensions, your best bet is to avoid any sticky, gluey or gummy products…okay, maybe you can apply just a little but not enough to clog your extensions. Otherwise, over time, you’ll find the wig dry and brittle over time, crunchy and gummy in texture, or discoloured in appearance due to exposure to chemicals from these products for a long time.
